Today we decide to go ahead with the land-based eco-tour no matter what the weather is like. Lucky it's on our side. First we drive south to Irosin to visit one of the many hot springs.
Mateo Hot and Cold Springs Resort located in Barangay Monbon, Irosin, has poolside picnic cottages, shower and dressing rooms, features swimming pools with hot to tepid water, and cold spring water. The change rooms were a bit scary, but the hot springs were really nice. The hot spring water flows from the Bulusan Volcano as the resort is located at its foot.
Next, we go to Palogtok Falls. It's a pleasant, 20-minute walk through a canopy of tall coconut trees. Once we're there, we find a man-made earthen swimming pool where the water flows from just the side of the hill. It reminded me a bit of typical scenery in BC.
The cold water pool.
Bulusan Lake lies at the heart of the National Park which covers an area of more than 3,000 hectares. There's a hike around the lake that takes about an hour. The tip of Bulusan volcano is hidden in the clouds.

We stopped at Dancalan Beach for a rest.
Our last stop is Barcelona Church. The old Barcelona Church, built in the 19th century by the Spanish colonizers, is perhaps the most well-preserved old church in the entire province. The thick stone walls of the church, including its bell tower, are the original walls. People say that the place was called Barcelona by the homesick Spaniards because the place’s topography reminded them of Barcelona, Spain.
It's been a very long and tiring day. We saw alot and had fun, but I'm ready to rest now!
