Bacman Geothermal Power Plant

Saturday morning I wake up and it's pouring rain. I'm supposed to be picked up at 9am for our tour, but at 8:30 there's a call, that it's been cancelled due to the weather. Just as well, I figure. It's been a busy week and I could use some downtime.
An hour later, there's a call that instead we'll go to the Bacman Geothermal Power Plant run by PNOC (Philippine National Oil Company). There is an eco-park there which includes waterfalls, hot and cold springs, boiling water lakes, and exotic flora and fauna.

Today, the Philippines is the world's largest user of wet steam technology in geothermal operations. It is ranked second to the United States in terms of total megawatts generated from geothermal energy.

Waterfalls...

Boiling mud pools

so cute...I couldn't resist taking a picture

Some local children followed us and gave me a flower. They were so sweet.
