Intercultural Effectiveness Training
In order to prepare for my assignment abroad, I participated in a 3-day couse in April on intercultural effectiveness in Halifax. The Center for Intercultural Learning (Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada) is Canada's largest provider of cross-cultural and training services for internationally assigned personnel. In addition to myself going to the Philippines, others were getting ready to go to Ghana, Georgia, Cambodia and China. Some of us were preparing for short-term assignments, and others were preparing for long-term assignments up to 2 years. The goal is the same: trying to maximize one's effectiveness while working in another culture. I got to meet some great people. It was a great experience and I hope to put the skills I learned into practice!
