It's my last day in Sorsogon City. My flight to Manila is in the afternoon, so I'm packing everything up. As I'm just about ready to go, there's a knock on my door. Over the last few days I was told that the local news station would come by to interview me, but they never showed up. Now, I find out, they're here and want to know if I can be ready in 5 minutes. No problem...
My flight to Manila goes smoothly. I have one day here. Mat Navalta from CESO meets me and we go for dinner to discuss my experience. He also takes me ballroom dancing, a favorite Filipino pastime. Once upon a time he used to be a dance instructor. He taught me a few moves, but I'm not so sure I'll remember them.
This has truly been a great experience. Getting to know the locals and knowing how much they appreciate what I and the other volunteers do have been the highlights for me. I wouldn't hesitate to volunteer with CESO again and would encourage other people to become involved as well.
